PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a microwave electrodeless lamp capable of stably radiating ultraviolet light of high emission intensity and reducing a mercury usage and to provide a light irradiation device using the same.
SOLUTION : The microwave electrodeless lamp that radiates light by receiving microwave energy includes : a tubular discharge container made of quartz glass; and an inert gas and a luminescent material encapsulated in the discharge container. The luminescent material contains mercury of 0.3×10-5 mol/cc to 1.4×10-5 mol/cc and further contains iron iodide, iron bromide, and thallium iodide.
