According to an embodiment of the present invention, there are provided a method for producing electrolyte powder for a solid oxide fuel cell including a precursor aqueous solution production step in which a ceria precursor and a rare earth metal precursor are stirred and dissolved in distilled water at a molar ratio of the chemical formula below to produce a precursor aqueous solution; a precursor aqueous solution coagulation step in which a solute is coagulated by injecting a hydroxide while the precursor aqueous solution is stirred; a primary heat treatment step in which the precursor aqueous solution is subjected to a heat treatment; an electrolyte powder production step in which electrolyte powder is produced by demoisturizing and pulverizing the heat-treated precursor aqueous solution; and a secondary heat treatment step in which the electrolyte powder is calcined, and electrolyte powder for a solid oxide fuel cell produced by same. XaCebOc (herein, X is a rare earth metal, a is 0.01 to 0.4, b=1-a, c=(3a+2b)/2).
