The invention relates to a method for introducing radioactive elements into a phosphate-containing crystal structure and comprises the following steps : mixing of an aqueous solution containing thorium ions with a further aqueous solutions containing trivalent rare earth metal ions; addition of this mixture to phosphate ions; precipitation of a crystalline phosphate which contains thorium ions and rare earth ions and has a monazite or xenotime structure or after precipitation is converted into a structure of this type.
