The present invention relates to a catalyst to produce light olefin, wherein light olefin including ethylene and propylene can be produced by means of a catalytic cracking of a C4 to C7 hydrocarbon mixture generated after naphtha cracking. External surface properties are adjusted such that catalyst activity reduction by carbon deposition is controlled. Accordingly, the catalyst to produce light olefin contains the physical and chemical properties of an existing catalyst and exhibits the properties of a more excellent lifespan of the catalyst, such that the prevention of decrease in the activities of the catalyst can be improved for a long time. The catalyst of the present invention is a zeolite catalyst used in producing light olefin including ethylene, propylene, and butene by means of the catalytic cracking of the C4 to C7 hydrocarbon which is generated after a naphtha cracking process. The external surface of the catalyst is treated and plasticized with a silica precursor such that the acid site of the external surface is shielded and the silica deposited on the external surface. Moreover, phosphorous and rare-earth metals are induced in the catalyst which is pre-treated with silica, such that the acid and base properties of the catalyst are adjusted.(AA) Comparison example 1(BB) Experimental example 1(CC) Experimental example 2(DD) Experimental example 3COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
