PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an air electrode which is arranged to have a relatively low thermal expansion coefficient, but arranged to be able to show a reduced reaction resistance in a solid oxide type fuel battery.
SOLUTION : An air electrode is used in a solid oxide type fuel battery having a solid electrolytic layer and/or a reaction-prevention layer each/one of which is bonded to the air electrode. The air electrode comprises : a lamellar perovskite oxide having a composition expressed by the general formula : A2BO4±δ(where A is at least one rare earth element selected from La, Pr and Nd; B is at least one element selected from Ni, Cu, Fe, Ga and Al; and δ represents an excessive oxygen amount or oxygen deficiency amount, but it can be zero). The air electrode has a fine structure in which the average length of an electrically conducting path at a junction interface formed when each/one of a solid electrolytic layer and/or a reaction-prevention layer is bonded to the air electrode is 0.5 μm or longer.
