Provided is a high-capacity non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of maintaining excellent cycle characteristics even when large current discharge is repeated. A positive electrode active material particle (32) comprises : a base particle (33) formed by aggregating primary particles (33a) made of a lithium-containing transition metal oxide containing tungsten; and rare earth compound particles (34) attached to the surface of the base particle (33). Preferably, the rare earth compound particles are attached to an interface where the primary particles contact each other or the vicinity of the interface.
