PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of recovering rare earth elements easily from rare earth magnets incorporated in products and a method of recycling a steel ingredient contained in rare earth magnet motors by using the method of recovering rare earth elements. SOLUTION : A method of recovering rare earth elements from a motor using a rare earth magnet includes a step of melting a rotor 1 separated from the motor to obtain a molten metal 2, a step of introducing an oxidant 4 into the molten metal to form slag 3 containing rare earth oxides and a step of recovering the slag. After the slag recovery step of the recovery method, the remaining molten metal 5 after recovery of the slag is recycled as a steel raw material. COPYRIGHT : (C)2014, JPO&INPIT
