PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a polymerization catalyst composition enabling high molecular weight polyisoprene to be efficiently synthesized. SOLUTION : There is provided the isoprene polymerization catalyst composition containing : a rare earth element compound ((a) component) having a rare earth element-oxygen bond or a rare earth element-sulfur bond; an ionic compound ((b) component) ; and at least one compound ((c) component) selected from a group consisting of a compound represented by the general formula (X) and a compound having a repeating unit represented by the general formula (Y), (X) : YR1aR2bR3c, (Y) : (-Y(R1)O-), where Y is a metal selected from the group I, the group II, the group XII and the group XIII in the periodic table, R1 and R2 are a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, R3 is a hydrocarbon atom having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, provided that R1 or R3 may be the same or different, a is 1 and b and c are 0 when Y is a metal selected from the group I in the periodic table, a and b are 1 and c is 0 when Y is a metal selected from the group II and the group XII in the periodic table, and a, b and c are 1 when Y is a metal selected from the group XIII in the periodic table.
