SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy is characterized in that the composition is represented by an general formula : M1tYuCavMgwM2x(where, t, u, v, w and x satisfy relations; 3.20≤x/(t+u+v+w)≤3.75, 3.4≤w≤4.7, 0.6≤u≤5.0, 1.1≤v≤6.6, t+u+v+w+x=100, M1 is one, or two or more elements selected from the group composed of rare earth elements excluding Y, V, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr and Hf, and M2 is one, or two or more elements selected from the group composed of Ni, Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Cr and Zn).
