PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a bismuth substituted rare earth iron garnet crystal which substantially contains no lead that is considered to be very harmful, and is excellent in crystal properties, and in which deterioration in light transmittance and Faraday rotation ability is not found when it is used as a Faraday rotator.
