PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide : a negative electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, when used in a lithium ion secondary battery, capable of allowing the lithium ion secondary battery to have high discharge capacity and initial reversible ratio and to exhibit excellent cycle characteristics; a negative electrode; and a lithium ion secondary battery using the negative electrode active material and the negative electrode.
SOLUTION : A negative electrode active material of the present invention includes a particle having : Si, an R element (R represents at least one selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements including Sc and Y.), and an A element (A represents at least one selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkali earth metal, B, P, Mn, Ag, Sb, Bi, Hf, Co, Cr, C, Mo, Nb, V, Al, Cu, Fe, Ni, W, Ti, Zr, Zn, Sn, Ga, In and Ta.); and an Si phase and a phase including Si, the R element and the A element, the phases being confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). Accordingly, the negative electrode active material is useful as a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery.
