PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth sintered magnet exhibiting excellent coersive force performance while having a main phase of relatively large size, and is produced without using a heavy rare-earth element such as Dy, or the like, and to provide a production method therefor.
SOLUTION : A rare-earth sintered magnet M consists of an RE-T-B-based main phase C (RE : Nd or Pr, T : Fe or Fe partially replaced by Co), and a grain boundary phase B around the main phase C and containing an RE element and a T element. Concentration of the T element in the grain boundary phase B is 60 at% or less, thickness of the grain boundary phase B becomes thinner from the surface S toward the interior of the rare-earth sintered magnet M, and the average thickness of the grain boundary phase B in a region SA of the surface layer of the rare-earth sintered magnet M is 10 nm or more.
