PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fuel cell that has a coating film formed on a gas outflow end of a porous support substrate with gas passages formed thereinside and that prevents cracks in the coating film. SOLUTION : A fuel cell is a fired body including : a flat porous support substrate 10 that is made up of a porous insulating ceramic material not including Ni and that has a plurality of gas passages 11 formed thereinside along a longitudinal direction thereof; and a power generating element section that is provided on a main surface of the support substrate 10 and that has at least a fuel electrode, a solid electrolyte, and an air electrode, laminated in that order. A coating film is formed on a gas emission end of an inner wall surface of each gas passage 11 and on a gas emission end surface, in the longitudinal direction, of the support substrate 10. The coating film is lower in porosity than the support substrate 10, and consists of zirconia including a rare-earth element. COPYRIGHT : (C)2014, JPO&INPIT
