PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid oxide type fuel cell having a preferred fuel electrode when ammonia is used as fuel, and to obtain high ammonia reforming performance and durability in fuel electrode, and continuous high electro motive force in the case of making an anode support type fuel cell. SOLUTION : Provided are a solid oxide type fuel cell composed of at least of a fuel electrode, an air electrode and a solid electrolyte, and a power generating method. In the solid oxide type fuel cell, a fuel electrode material forming the fuel electrode uses ammonia as fuel, containing a ceria-based oxide (A) being a ceria-rare earth metal oxide solid solution or a ceria-alkaline earth metal oxide solid solution; at least one of metal oxide (metal oxide (B)) selected from a group consisting of Ni, Fe and Co; and a zirconium-based oxide (C) being a zirconium oxide stabilized by a rare earth metal oxide or an alkaline earth metal oxide.
