PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of producing an aluminate luminophore, BAM, YAG and CAT by an alum method. SOLUTION : An aluminate luminophore comprises aggregates with a mean particle size of about 10 μm comprising particles with a mean particle size of 0.25 μm to 1.5 μm. In a process of producing the aluminate luminophore, ammonium alum and a rare-earth metal based additive are mixed, calcined at a prescribed temperature for prescribed time, and ground and screened.
