PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a thermal spray material excellent in flowability when supplied in a flame and capable of easily obtaining a uniform spray film. SOLUTION : The thermal spray material of the present invention consists of a granule including yttrium oxy fluoride (YOF). The granule may further include yttrium fluoride (YF3). An oxygen content of the granule is suitably 0.3-13.1 mass%. The fracture strength of the granule is suitably 0.3 MPa or more and less than 10 MPa. Some yttrium (Y) in the granule may be replaced by at least one kind of rare earth elements (Ln) except an yttrium element.
