A method for performing a corona treatment on the surface of a film, which comprises : a step for generating a corona discharge between a discharge electrode (2) and an earth roll (3); and a step for having a film (10) run on the earth roll (3) during the corona discharge. The discharge electrode (2) is covered with an electrode cover (4). The electrode cover (4) has an opening (4c) on the earth roll (3) side, and the opening (4c) of the electrode cover (4) is formed to face sideward, obliquely upward or upward.
