A method of manufacturing a magnet from material powders made of a R-Fe-N compound that contains a rare earth element as R or material powders made of a Fe-N compound, includes : an oxide film bonding step in which a compact is formed by bonding the material powders to each other by oxide films formed on surfaces of the material powders; and a coating step in which a surface of the compact is covered with a coating film.
