PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method of garnet type composite oxide powder for sintering that is suitable to produce a garnet type transparent ceramic with uniform transparency. SOLUTION : A production method of garnet type composite oxide powder for sintering includes : adding (a) aqueous solution containing Tb ion, (b) aqueous solution containing Al ion, and (c) aqueous solution containing Sc ion to aqueous solution for co-precipitation to co-precipitate components (a), (b), (c); and filtering the co-precipitation product and heating and dewatering the same to obtain garnet type composite oxide powder presented by following formula (1) by sintering. (R1-xScx)3(A1-yScy)5O12 (1) (In the formula, R is at least one rare earth element selected from the group consisting of yttrium and lanthanide rare earth elements; A is at least one chemical element selected from the group consisting of the 13 group elements; 0
