PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide : a high-performance rare earth sintered magnet which is reduced in the use of Dy and/or Tb; and a method for manufacturing the rare earth sintered magnet.
SOLUTION : The rare earth sintered magnet comprises a primary phase consisting of a Nd2Fe14B crystal phase. The rare earth sintered magnet comprises : an anisotropic sintered compact having a R1aTbMcSidBe composition, where R1 is at least one selected from a group consisting of rare earth elements including Sc and Y, T represents one element selected from Fe and Co, or both of them, M represents one or more kinds of elements selected from a group consisting of Al, Cu, Zn, In, P, S, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Ni, Ga, Ge, Zr, Nb, Mo, Pd, Ag, Cd, Sn, Sb, Hf, Ta, and W, Si represents silicon, B represents boron, and the subscripts "a" to "e" indicate atomic percentages in the alloy, and meet the conditions of 12≤a≤17, 0≤c≤10, 0.3≤d≤7, and 5≤e≤10, and "b" is the remainder; and R2 diffused into the anisotropic sintered compact from the surface thereof, where R2 is one element selected from Dy and Tb, or both of them.
