PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator which is improved in efficiency with less afterglow, is high in stability under radiations, and has desirable X-ray blocking capability. SOLUTION : A rare earth garnet scintillator is composed of a light emitting material with a garnet structure represented by (Gd1-x-y-zYxAyCez)3+u(Ga1-m-nAlmDn)5-uO12 : wFO.
