PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a piezoelectric porcelain which hardly adheres to a baking jig or the like on which the piezoelectric porcelain is placed when baked, and to provide a piezoelectric element. SOLUTION : The piezoelectric ceramic whose main phase is a bismuth layered compound, which contains Mn, where Mn does not exist eccentrically in the grain boundary part of the main phase and whose compositional formula is represented as Bi4Ti3O12-x(A1-αREα)TiO3[wherein, A is at least one of an alkaline earth metal, (alkali metal1/2Bi1/2) and äan alkaline earth metal+(alkali metal1/2Bi1/2)}; and RE is a rare earth element] contains a main ingredient satisfied with x≥0.2 and 0.05≤α≤0.3 of 100 pts.mass and Mn of 0.05-2.0 pts.mass in terms of MnO2.
