The present invention relates to a novel type of green phosphors based on mixed rare-earth phosphates and to a process for preparing these novel phosphors from precursors comprising particles having an average diameter between 1.5 and 15 microns, these particles comprising a mineral core and a shell based on a mixed phosphate of lanthanum and/or cerium, optionally doped with terbium, homogeneously covering the mineral core over a thickness greater than or equal to 300 nm.
