PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of diagnosing the corrosion of a rare earth permanent magnet which can be easily carried out without disassembling electric/electronic equipment using a rare earth permanent magnet covered with a protective film. SOLUTION : The corrosion diagnostic method for a rare earth permanent magnet comprises an analysis step to analyze a chlorine refrigerant existing around the rare earth permanent magnet covered with a protective film and a determining step to determine that the rare earth permanent magnet is corroded when the reaction product of a main component of the chlorine refrigerant and the rare earth permanent magnet is found in the chlorine refrigerant.
