PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth permanent magnet capable of preventing Nd carbide from being formed in a magnet after sintering and thereby preventing magnetic characteristics from being reduced, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION : A permanent magnet 1 is manufactured by manufacturing an alloy ingot added with a metal of free energy of formation at forming a carbide lower than Nd for Nd, Fe, and B, manufacturing a magnet powder by coarsely pulverizing the alloy ingot and then performing wet type pulverization, manufacturing a green sheet 14 formed by molding the manufactured magnet powder in a sheet-like shape, performing magnetic field orientation of the molded green sheet 14, performing calcination processing by holding the green sheet 14 under a non-oxidation atmosphere pressurized to a pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure at 200°C to 900°C for several hours, and sintering the green sheet 14 at a burning temperature.
