The invention relates to an XA partially stabilised zirconium oxide material having the following composition : zirconium oxide, a stabilisation phase A which leads to a metastable state of the zirconium oxide and is selected from the list consisting of yttrium, erbium, cerium, magnesium, calcium or mixtures thereof and which is present in a proportion X in mol % in relation to the total amount of zirconium oxide. At least one further element, i.e. a doping element, which is an element of sub-group I, II and/or VI to VIII or a rare-earth element, is additionally added to the zirconium oxide. At least two doping elements are preferably added, with at least one doping element being an element of sub-group I, II and/or VI to VIII and a further doping element being a rare-earth element.
