RARE EARTH RECOVERING METHOD FROM RARE EARTH-CONTAINING SCRAP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for extremely easily and efficiently recovering rare earth elements. SOLUTION : In a method for recovering rare earth elements from scrap, the rare earth elements are eluted from oxide powder of rare earth-containing scrap containing iron by an electrolytic method. In electrolytic solution, conducting salt is contained. Under the condition where pH of the electrolytic solution is 2-8 and temperature of it is 20-90°C, electrolyzation is performed while agitating the electrolytic solution, thereby iron oxide is turned from Fe3O4 (black) to Fe2O3 (brown) by electrolyzation, and the rare earth elements are eluted in the electrolytic solution. Further, from the solution where the rare earth elements are eluted, the rare earth elements are recovered by solvent extraction or a crystallization method. COPYRIGHT : (C)2013, JPO&INPIT
