PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, capable of suppressing reductions in discharge capacity and reductions in discharge voltage even in cases such as continuous charging at high temperatures and capable of also suppressing reductions in discharge voltage and reductions in energy density in charging and discharging thereafter, and also to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including the positive electrode.
SOLUTION : A positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes : a positive electrode active material comprising a mixture of lithium cobaltate 21 to which a rare earth compound adheres at part of the surface, and a lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide to which a rare earth compound does not adhere at the surface; and a binder. The proportion of the lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide with respect to the total amount of the positive electrode active material is 1 mass% or more and 50 mass% or less.
