PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet superior in corrosion resistance while superior in adhesion between a magnet element assembly and a coating layer. SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet includes : a magnet element assembly 10 containing a rare earth element; and a coating layer 20 having a first layer 22 and a second layer 24 that are formed on the magnet element assembly from the magnet element assembly 10 side in this order. In the rare earth magnet 100, the first layer 22 contains at least one metal selected from a group consisting of Al, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn or an alloy containing the metal, and the second layer 24 contains a compound having silicon, nitrogen and hydrogen as a constituent element.
