PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a vanadium oxide phosphor which emits white light under ultraviolet-near ultraviolet radiation as excitation light. SOLUTION : The phosphor comprises a vanadium oxide represented by compositional formula : AxVyOz, wherein when y is 1 and z is 2.9-3.1, x is 0.8-1.2 and A denotes one or more selected from the group consisting of K, Rb and Cs; and when y is 1 and z is 3.4-3.6, x is 0.9-1.1 and A denotes one or more selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba. A may contain one or more selected from the group consisting of Li, Na and NH4. The phosphor may be activated with at least one of Mn2+, Sb3+, Bi3+and rare earth ions. COPYRIGHT : (C)2009, JPO&INPIT
