PURPOSE : A surface modification method of polymer for automotive interior or exterior is provided to express metallic feeling and to enhance strength, surface hardness, and scratch resistance. CONSTITUTION : A surface modification method of polymer for automotive interior or exterior comprises the following steps : making ion by mixing one or more reactive gases among nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen with one or more inert gases among argon, helium, and xenon; accelerating so that the ion can have energy of 10-120 keV.; reforming the surface by irradiating the polymer surface with 1×10^15 ~ 1×10^19 ions/cm^2 amount of the ion for 5-30 minutes. The first step makes a mixed gas of 85-90 volume% nitrogen and 5-15 volume% of argon into the ion.
