PURPOSE : An anode active material is provided to prevent or reduce the degradation of the capacity characteristic and charging/discharging efficiency, and therefore, to be able to improve the capacity characteristic and cycle lifetime characteristic of a lithium secondary battery.CONSTITUTION : An anode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises a matrix including Si-X alloy, Si dispersed within the matrix, and oxygen (O) atom. The oxygen (O) atom is included at the amount of 20 atom% or less to the total atom amount of the anode active material. Herein, X is selected from alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, 13-16 group element, transition metal, rare-earth element and a combination thereof, but not Si. The anode active material has an average particle diameter (D_50) of 1-8 micron, and a specific surface area of 1-8 m^2/g.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
