PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To solve the problem that a cathode body used for a magnetron has many disadvantages in increasing power.SOLUTION : A cathode body for a magnetron is obtained, which uses as a base material a high melting point metal having an electron emitting material contained therein and has a surface coated with a rare-earth boride. Preferably, the electron emitting material and the high melting point metal are LaOand W respectively, and the rare-earth boride is LaB.
