Provided is a rotor for an internal magnet-type synchronous machine housing a high-orientation rare earth anisotropic bonded magnet. A rotor (1) of the internal magnet-type synchronous machine of the present invention comprises a body (11) that is formed from a soft magnetic material and has an internal part (12) formed from a space that is uniformly disposed around a center axis of rotation, and a permanent magnet (M1) disposed in the internal part. The outer peripheral region, which is from the outer peripheral end of the permanent magnet to the outer peripheral end of the body, is a low-magnetism part having a lower magnetic permeability than the soft magnetic material. The permanent magnet is formed from a rare earth anisotropic bonded magnet that is injection molded inside the internal part such that an oriented magnetic field is effectively formed. The low-magnetism part is obtained by, for instance, modifying a portion of the structure of a laminated electromagnetic steel sheet, to an austenite structure. By using the low-magnetism part, the oriented magnetic field during injection molding is successfully distributed to the internal part and a high-orientation rare earth anisotropic bonded magnet can be successfully formed in the internal part.
