PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve low-heat-generating properties while maintaining cutting resistance.
SOLUTION : The rubber composition for tire base tread includes a rubber component including 20-50 mass% of butadiene rubber synthesized using a rare-earth catalyst (e.g., neodymium catalyst) and 50-80 mass% of another diene rubber and is free from a silane coupling agent. The rubber composition further includes, as a filler, 10-15 vol.% of large-particle-size carbon black having a nitrogen-adsorption specific surface area of 20-50 m2/g, and 1-5 vol.% of small-particle-size filler composed of carbon black and/or silica having a nitrogen-adsorption specific surface area of 110-220 m2/g, the total amount of the filler being 11-16 vol.%.
