PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a titanium material for solid polymer-type fuel battery separator use which shortens the time required for acid cleaning and allows a coating film with good conductivity to be formed on a surface, and to provide a method of manufacturing the titanium material, and a solid polymer-type fuel battery with the titanium material. SOLUTION : The titanium material for solid polymer-type fuel battery separator use includes, in units of % by mass, 0.005-0.15% of a platinum-group metal, and 0.002-0.10% of a rare earth element with the balance consisting of Ti and impurities. With the titanium material of the invention, a coating film comprising a titanium oxide and a platinum-group metal can be formed on a surface of the titanium material by acid cleaning by use of a non-oxidative acid. It is preferred that the thickness of the coating film is 50 nm or less and the concentration of the platinum-group metal at the surface of the coating film is 1.5 mass% or more. Since the coating film is formed in this way, the titanium material of the invention allows the materialization of the reduction in initial contact resistance, and it can ensure a good corrosion resistance.
