PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R-T-B-based sintered magnet which keeps a high magnetic property, and has less amounts of heavy rare earth elements used therein.
SOLUTION : An R-T-B-based sintered magnet has a primary-phase grain and a grain boundary phase. The primary-phase grain includes a core part and a shell part. The core part primary phase is given by LR(2-x)HRxT14B, where x=0.00-0.07; LR represents light rare earth elements which include Nd as an essential element, and at least one of Y, La, Ce, Pr and Sm; HR represents heavy rare earth elements which include Dy and/or Tb as an essential element, and at least one of Gd, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; T includes Fe and/or Co as an essential element, and one or both of Mn and Ni; and B represents boron, which may be partially substituted by C(carbon). The shell part primary phase is given by LR(2-x)HRxT14B, where x=0.02-0.40. The shell part has a maximum thickness of 7-100 nm.
