PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy that can have both high capacity of batteries and improvement of cycle life characteristics. SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy, an alloy of a rare earth-Ca-Mg-Ni system, includes an A2B7 phase as a main phase. The site A of the main phase includes a rare earth element, Ca and Mg; the site B of the main phase includes Ni; and the rare earth element is at least one kind of Pr, Nd and Sm.
