PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a ceramic metal halide lamp which reduces a change in electric characteristic and a change in an optical characteristic in an early stage of lighting.
SOLUTION : A light-emitting tube of a ceramic metal halide lamp, in which a predetermined amount of mercury, metallic halide, and a rare gas are sealed together with silver iodide (AgI), is obtained by measuring a change of a light flux while changing an AgI/metallic halide total amount (weight ratio) to thereby define an upper limit value of the AgI/metallic halide total amount with reference to an allowable decreasing rate of the light flux and determine an upper limit amount of AgI, measuring a change of a lamp voltage while changing the AgI/metallic halide total amount (weight ratio) to thereby define a lower limit value of the AgI/metallic halide total amount with reference to an allowable decreasing rate of the lamp voltage and determine a lower limit amount of AgI, and sealing AgI, whose amount is within a range between the AgI upper limit amount and lower limit amount, in the light-emitting tube together with another substance to be sealed. A lamp is produced using the light-emitting tube.
