PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth permanent magnet which allows the increase in coercive force in a Nd-Fe-B-based rare earth permanent magnet by making the post-sintering remaining nitrogen concentration 800 ppm or less in the rare earth permanent magnet, and to provide a method for manufacturing such a rare earth permanent magnet.
SOLUTION : The method for manufacturing a Nd-Fe-B-based rare earth permanent magnet 1 such that the post-sintering remaining nitrogen concentration is 800 ppm or less, preferably 300 ppm or less comprises the steps of : grinding raw materials of the magnet into powder by means of dry grinding under an inert gas atmosphere; thereafter compacting and shaping the powder into a compact in the inert gas atmosphere; and then sintering the compact at a temperature of 800-1180°C.
