PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a lithium secondary battery offering high reliability and safety and capable of being used in environmentally friendly vehicles such as a next-generation clean energy vehicle. SOLUTION : The lithium ion secondary battery comprises a positive electrode absorbing and desorbing lithium ions, and a negative electrode absorbing and desorbing lithium ions. The positive electrode or the negative electrode comprises a porous layer on the surface, the porous layer contains ceramic particles having PTC characteristics, and polyolefin particles, the ceramic particles contain a rare-earth element imparting semiconductivity, and the polyolefin particles have no PTC characteristics.
