PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy having high capacity and enhancing discharge capacity at low temperatures to around -30°C and cycle life. SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy has an intermetallic compound represented by general formula 1 : (R1-aAa)TxSiyMzZαXβas the main phase. R : at least one selected from Y-containing rare earth elements; A : at least one selected from Ti, Zr, Hf; T : at least one selected from Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Cu, Cr; M : at least one selected from V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W; Z : at least one selected from the group comprising Sn, Al, Sb, and In; X : at least one selected from B, C, N, P; 0≤a≤0.3; 0.5≤x≤1.2; 2.7≤y≤3.2; 0≤z≤0.5; 0≤α≤0.5; 0≤β≤1 (atomic ratio).
