PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery capable of inhibiting reduction in operating voltage even when standing for a long time.
SOLUTION : The nickel-hydrogen secondary battery comprises a positive electrode 24 and a negative electrode 26, the positive electrode 24 contains a positive electrode active material composed of nickel hydroxide particles 36 being a solid solution of magnesium, the negative electrode 26 contains a powder 44 of a rare-earth-Mg-Ni hydrogen-storing alloy, and at least one of the negative electrode 26 and the positive electrode 24 contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of zinc and zinc compounds as an additive 38 or 46, where the content of the additive 46 in the negative electrode 26 is in the range of 0.2 to 1.5 pts.wt. with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the hydrogen-storing alloy, and the content of the additive 38 in the positive electrode 24 is in the range of 0.3 to 1.5 pts.wt. with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the positive electrode active material.
