PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a filter material which is excellent in performance and suitable for purifying sewage and cleaning air.SOLUTION : Powdery and granular andosol, smashed pieces of pumice and ordinary portland cement are mixed together in a mixer, and water is added to this mixture, and mixing and kneading are made to form a kneaded raw material. Then, the kneaded raw material is put into a molding machine hopper, and pressed and vibrated sequentially in a molding machine process, and the kneaded raw material is press-hardened to form a molded raw material. Then, curing is made to the molded raw material by means of through-flow drying, and then water spray curing is made to the raw material concerned to form a solid raw material, that is, the filter material for purification. The filter material is suitable for purifying sewage and cleaning air.
