PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an aqueous dispersion which has high dispersibility of particles even when the concentration of the particles is high, and which has such high stability that precipitates are hardly formed even if it is stored for a long period of time and which has high transparency.
SOLUTION : The aqueous dispersion includes particles formed from a rare earth phosphate and having a BET specific surface area of 10-200 m2/g. The maximum particle diameter Dmax of the particles is 100 nm or less, the pH of the aqueous dispersion is ≥1 and <5, and the concentration of the particles is 5-50 mass%. Alternatively, the pH of the aqueous dispersion may be 9.1-14. It is preferable that the aqueous dispersion has a transmittance in a visible light wavelength region of 50% or more, as measured by using a cell having an optical path length of 1 cm.
