PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having an excellent exhaust gas cleaning capacity as compared with a conventional exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION : The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is used for cleaning HC, CO, and NOx contained in the exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine and constituted of a composite oxide particle containing a noble metal element and at least one element selected from the group consisting of alkali metal elements, alkaline earth metal elements, a rare earth elements and a transition metal elements. The composite oxide particle has a gradient structure wherein the content of the noble metal element gradually increases from its center part to its surface direction. COPYRIGHT : (C)2009, JPO&INPIT
