PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an oxygen ion conductor with high density and in which both oxygen ion conductivity and electron conductivity are high; and an electrochemical device using the same. SOLUTION : This oxygen ion conductor 1 includes a lanthanum chromite-based perovskite-like oxide comprising at least either of lanthanum magnesium chromite and lanthanum calcium chromite, and zirconium oxide containing at least one kind of calcium oxide, gadolinium oxide and rare-earth oxide as a stabilizer.
