PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, in which start temperature of carbon burning is low. SOLUTION : A catalyst powder for cleaning exhaust gas contains a compound oxide containing cerium, a rare earth element except for the cerium, and oxygen, and silver and/or silver oxide. A particle constituting the catalyst powder has many pores having 0.05-10 μm average diameter on the surface and inside thereof. The pore on the surface of the particle is an open pore opened to the atmosphere and the pore inside the particle communicates with the open pore directly or via the other pores present inside the particle. A three-dimensional network is formed on the surface layer of the particle or on the inside of the particle by many walls which divide the pores. COPYRIGHT : (C)2013, JPO&INPIT
