PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a heat storage member and a heat exchanger capable of reducing the size and the number of burners and executing short time heat exchanging, which is hardly damaged by thermal expansion, oxidation, corrosion or others. SOLUTION : The heat storage member comprises dense ceramics more than 95% or more by a theoretical density ratio, the dense ceramics includes alumina based ceramics in which an average crystalline particle size is 2 to 50 μm, an average aspect ratio is 4 or more and less than 10, and a purity is 85 mass% or more, and the alumina base ceramics contains 0.1 to 6 mass% of magnesia (MgO), silica (SiO2), rare earth oxides (RE2O3 and/or REO2, RE : rare earth elements), iron oxides (Fe3O4 and/or Fe2O3), calcia (CaO), chromia (Cr2O3), transition metal oxides other than the, or at least one composite oxide of the same as a component system other than the alumina.
