PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic composition which exhibits good properties even when a dielectric layer thereof is made thin, and to provide an electronic component in which the dielectric ceramic composition is applied to a dielectric layer.
SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic composition comprises a plurality of dielectric particles and a grain boundary existing between the dielectric particles, wherein the dielectric particles are composed of solid solution particles (21) and Si exists uniformly in the grain boundary (31, 32). The dielectric ceramic composition contains a compound represented by a composition formula : (Ba1-xCax)a(Ti1-yZry)O2+a as a principal component and contains an oxide of RE element (at least one selected from Y, Dy and Ho), an oxide of Mn and an Si-containing oxide as secondary components. In the composition formula, x, y and a are 0≤x≤0.08, 0.005≤y≤0.08 and 0.995≤a≤1.015. The molar ratio of the RE element to Mn is preferably 3≤RE/Mn≤6.
